Dolby Atmos on Amazon Prime Video from 31st August

Amazon is keeping up with its competitors such as Netflix and adding more features to its Amazon Prime Video service. This time, it is adding Dolby Atmos on Amazon Prime Video which will improve the audio aspect of the service, in addition to its 4K video resolution. This step is a long-expected one as Amazon’s Fire TV, as well as Fire TV Cube, are both compatible with Dolby Atmos, but unfortunately, Amazon did not have any content that would suit this feature. That is, until now.

Dolby Atmos on Amazon Prime Video will come to life with the new movie “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” starring John Krasinski premiered on 31st August. This surround system technology will improve your watching experience as it creates the feeling of “3D” sound. To achieve this, it uses sound system that has to be supportive of Dolby Atmos, and by specific placement around the room, the sound will be played from different speakers and directions, even from behind or above you, while you sit and enjoy the movie.

Unfortunately, as this technology is relatively new but quite pricey, it is still not present in all home theatres. Nevertheless, slowly but surely it is coming to the front scene catching the eye on movie enthusiasts. We are excited for this step forward from Amazon and looking forward to seeing which other titles will they add to their collection.
