Just Cause 3 Review – Rico returns to his homeland

In Just Cause 3, the hero of the story, Rico returns to his homeland, the island of Medici, the city of 400 square miles which overlooks the splendor of the Mediterranean. His goal is to liberate his country from the hand of general “Di Ravello”, a vicious tyrant who seeks control of the city at the cost of killing civilians in his quest to dominate the world. If you have played any Just Cause game then you are no stranger to this narrative. Each installment of the series presents us with a similar story where we need to fight against different villains and engage in massive battles in order to liberate the people.

The game is developed by Avalanche Group and is the third installment of the series. There are a lot of new things added, and a lot has been fixed since Just Cause 2. Simply we can say that the fun gameplay and amazing graphics we got in the previous installment will continue here, which is great.

Just Cause 3 Review

In the video games world, explosions are rarely mastered in this artistic way, it’s almost as if the entire game has been designed based on the massive explosions. Just Cause 3 meets many distinct scenes, which you will notice with the first huge explosion that you will create, you just have to search for a gas station and shoot at it, and you will find that the explosion is a work of art, despite it not being that realistic.

Not only did Just Cause 3 come to us to offer us this much fun, but it also fixed many problems that were present in the previous installment of the series. You will notice that Rico’s parachute has become more responsive, along with the new wingsuit. This addition will fix the biggest issue with Just Cause 2 -being trapped in a remote location without transportation-. In Just Cause 3, instead of waiting for a car or any means of transport to arrive, you can simply use the hook to gain the momentum and reach the appropriate speed and then open your parachute, when you reach a good height in the air you can move to the wingsuit, here you can fly to the farthest places, without any vehicles.

That’s very much the essence of Just Cause 3 – fixing the previous game’s problems while delivering a new storyline that offers the fun players were waiting for. For example, driving inside Just Cause 2 was a chore, the cars were not handled properly, but now, even though the cars are not the same as those in Grand Theft Auto, there are a variety of vehicles that you can choose from across the island, and they are much better than they used to be. Plus, the fact that every car can be an explosion festival if you need it to.

And it seems that working on these mobility systems has helped the game tremendously to create a bigger open-world, Medici is a very big island. Similar to the island of Panau which was in the previous installment, this new island is more diverse than the previous one; There are high mountains that surround it, scenic beaches, and Mediterranean villages with beautiful flower fields.

And you should be aware that the Just Cause series – especially after this release, is clearly heading to action games in which the chases will make you feel like they’re out of a movie. In Just Cause 3, there are shots where a fleet of helicopters chase you over a mountain range. In many other games, the chase will probably play as cinematic scenes with little control by the player. But here, you are in full control of the whole scene, you can go on the mission or try to eliminate them all, you can even jump over planes and control them with your amazing acrobatic abilities!

The ability to perform such moves is what defines Just Cause 3, even if it sounds a bit silly, it won’t look like it while you’re playing the game. Just like any other open-world game, ignoring the story or doing it is completely optional. You can navigate the game world and go on different special missions, or you can perform these challenges as you progress through the story.

Conclusion

As fun as it is, Just Cause 3 might get a bit boring at some point. While the graphics are perfect, and the stunts that you can perform are mind-blowing, they can be repetitive sometimes. Although the game might lack a new interesting storyline, Just Cause games are usually based only on progression through the game only. However, if you are a fan of adventure and action games, you will definitely enjoy Just Cause 3.
