Chromecast Can Now Be Added To Speaker Groups

While smart speakers and smart displays are getting more popular, most users are trying to keep up with all the new features in order to get the maximum benefits out of their smart devices. Multi-room audio may not be a new feature, but surprisingly it wasn’t available on Google Chromecast video dongle. It sounds silly because it’s such a small, useful feature but that is the reality. However, the feature is finally coming to Chromecast.

Previously, speaker groups could only include audio devices like Google Home devices or any Google Assistant-enabled speaker, in addition to Chromecast Audio. Yes, you can cast audio through your Chromecast Video but you can’t add it to any speakers group. Back in October, Google announced a new Chromecast Video, and it was also announced that finally, you will be able to add it to speakers group. Now it looks like the feature is rolling out to everyone.

This new feature will be quite handy. Now you can listen to music while scrolling in your photos, or watching a slideshow for example. When you play a song on the speaker group right now, you won’t see the same interface that you are used to see when streaming audio through the Chromecast, instead, the title of the songs with some other details will appear on the bottom leaving the screen for other display usages.

In case you don’t own a Chromecast yet, then it’s time to grab yours. Check out our online store for the best deals.
