Samsung Unpacked 2020: What To Expect

Finally, after a couple of months of anticipation, Samsung Unpacked 2020 event is only a few days away. Taking place in San Francisco, it will be focusing on Samsung’s newest device including Galaxy S20 Series, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Buds+, Galaxy Home Mini speaker, and perhaps a very exciting announcement with Google. Here is everything you can expect from Samsung Unpacked 2020.

Galaxy S20 Series

The first announcement that will take place at the Samsung Unpacked 2020 event focuses on the new S smartphone series: Galaxy S20, or what was at first believed to be S11. The company’s new flagship series will feature three device levels: standard, Plus, and Ultra. What you can expect is an overall very similar design to its predecessors, but a big update when it comes to camera with a three-lends back camera that is accommodated in the rectangular housing and a punch-hole centered front camera. Another important detail includes the 120Hz refresh rate and the latest Snapdragon processor, as well as the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack.

Galaxy Z Flip

Besides the S20 Series, Samsung is going to announce its second foldable smartphone: Galaxy Z Flip. Unlike the first Galaxy Fold and its butterfly-like mechanism that proved to be quite problematic, Z Flip is going to have a clam-shell folding mechanism which makes it resemble the old-school flip phones. Except for this, you can also expect Ultra-Thin Glass that is expected to be more durable during the foldings despite technically being made out of glass, but this means it will not have the in-display fingerprint option. It will only have one screen, but also one additional display on the outside for quick access to time and battery update. It will be available in two colors: Black and Purple.

Galaxy Buds+

Samsung is also expected to reveal the second generation of its truly wireless earbuds at Samsung Unpacked 2020 event. With only a year since the first model was released, Galaxy Buds+ will not have too many drastic differences, with the style being mostly unchanged. Yet, the battery life will be significantly prolonged offering you twice as much playback time. Moreover, Galaxy Buds+  will also offer a better sound performance as well as one additional microphone for clearer conversations.

Galaxy Home Mini

Technically announced in 2018, Galaxy Home Mini is one of the longest awaited smart speakers out there. But, according to the official Samsung post, it will be launched on 12th of February 2020, which is a day after the Samsung Unpacked event. There isn’t much known about the specifics and the details of the speaker and what performance can be expected, besides the most obvious idea that it will have Bixby, Samsung’s in-house voice assistant.

Google project

Samsung has lately been working with other major market players on different features that will be incorporated into its smartphones. Among these is the collaboration with OnePlus which resulted in the new 120Hz displays that will be a part of both S20 Series, as well as the upcoming OnePlus 8 Series. But, a tweet from Android’s official Twitter profile leads us to believe that there might be something more coming at the Samsung Unpacked 2020 event, but it is all speculations at the moment.
